Thanks to Breck Carter’s SQL Anywhere blog, I found out about Google custom search and web elements.
As a result, I have created a custom search for SQL Anywhere technical content, from the online documentation, technical papers, blogs and newsgroups.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.

What are the CSE “url patterns” for your search? If you show me yours, I’ll show you mine

I kept it pretty simple. I set the Search engine keywords to “SQL Anywhere” and then added the following URL’s. I think I can combine the sybase.com urls and use wildcards to be more specific, but this seemed to work pretty well so far:
http://groups.google.com/group/sybase.*
http://forums.sybase.com
http://sybooks.sybase.com
http://www.sqlanywhere.com
http://dcx.sybase.com
http://sqlanywhere.blogspot.com
http://iablog.sybase.com
http://blogs.sybase.com
http://www.sybase.com

Here are the url patterns I use. The two specific sqlanywhere.blogspot urls are designed to eliminate the “current page” which includes several posts, plus other multi-post pages that blogspot maintains. In other words, ONLY the individual post pages are searched. The difference can be striking; the search results are more focused with less duplication; i.e., the same page appears by itself, as well as in more than one multi-post pages, and the multi-post pages should be skipped.

Do you mean I can type “mobilink Data read failed” and it will find all those messages in the Sybase newsgroups, as well as other references!!!!
It can’t be this easy…
we’ve struggled for years to get this info…
If I correctly understand what you have done, you will be instantly transformed to the realm of superhero, or saint, or all of the above!!!
